The devastating effects of Hurricane Helene have been felt across the US, even by those not in the path of destruction.

The loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods have brought relief efforts from many places, including from our area. One such group who has organized several drives for donations has been the Shieldwall Network, founded by Billy Roper.
A longtime reader asked if we would reach out and inform readers of the efforts taken on behalf of the hurricane victims, so we contacted Mr. Roper for a statement.

He replied with the following:
“Responding initially to reports from Shieldwall Network prospective members in North Carolina who have not yet had an opportunity to finalize their moves to Ozarkia, the Shieldwall Network coordinated many of its members voluntarily donating financial contributions to assist them, resulting in a Shieldwall Network multi-trip mission to deliver thousands of dollars and truckload after truckload of food and water and propane to some of the hardest hit hurricane ravaged areas of Western North Carolina.”
He also stated they will continue to deliver donations to area churches for distribution as long as it is needed.
